To get the capybara sound, the sound engineer had to travel to a zoo and tickle the capybaras
The cat is a solitary animal, but after a major flood devastates her home, she finds refuge on a ship inhabited by different species and will have to bond with them despite their differences. The team was very adamant about getting real animals to do the "voices", so they recorded real animals for the film. However, the real capybara sounds didn’t match the personality that the capybara character would have, so they used a baby camel for that sound instead.
ButEarth isn’t just about people
The world today isn’t exactly something that gives you hope for the future. This movie is about a time when humans are (seemingly) gone. So in that way, it doesn’t give you hope either.
That part is a little silly
It’s full of animals who sometimes just live together in a kind of harmony. Granted. This movie makes it seem so easy for them to live together across species.
Not the people
But the movie is made in a way that the animals are a little bit humanized. And the way they interact with each other gives me a little bit of hope for the Earth. The Earth will be okay.
As for the people, that remains to be seen
But this movie is a small miracle that will make you laugh and enjoy about 1½ hours of happiness.
